AFTER CAre
Looking after your VEHICLE
PPF, Wrap and signwriting care
GENERAL TIPS
Hold Off on Washing: Give it a couple of days (at least 48 hours, ideally 96 hours) before giving your freshly PPF’ed/wrapped car its first wash. This gives the adhesive time to fully set.
Hand Wash is Best: Stick with a hand wash whenever possible.
Automatic car washes—especially the brushy ones—can be rough on wraps and cause damage.
Use Gentle Soap: Pick a pH-balanced car wash soap that’s easy on your wrap. Steer clear of strong chemicals or anything abrasive.
Go Easy with the Hose: High pressure might seem efficient, but it can lift the edges of the wrap. Use a gentle, low-pressure rinse instead.
MAINTENANCE TIPS
Keep It Clean: Don’t let dirt or grime build up—regular cleaning helps prevent damage.
Watch the Weather: Whenever you can, avoid long exposure to harsh sun or extreme heat. And try not to park under trees or near dusty construction sites.
Act Fast with Messes: Bird droppings, bug guts, or tree sap? Clean them off ASAP. A mix of water and isopropyl alcohol (2:1) or a gentle automotive detailer works great.
Skip the Wax: If your PPF/wrap is matte or textured, skip waxing or polishing. For glossy finishes, only use products made for vinyl wraps.
Protect the Edges: Be extra careful around the edges when washing or drying. Avoid blasting them with water to keep the wrap from peeling.
WAShing your vehicle
What You’ll Need:
• Soft microfiber cloths or wash mitts
• pH-balanced car wash soap
• Two buckets (one for soap, one for rinsing)
• Low-pressure hose or pressure washer
We are now stocking Stjarna Gloss products that are perfect for looking
after your car.
Rinse First: Start by rinsing off loose dirt and grime with a
low-pressure hose.
Soap It Up: Mix your soap with water following the instructions. Use a soft cloth or sponge to gently wash the car, working in sections.
Use a separate cloth for your wheels to avoid scratching the wrap with brake dust or grime.
Rinse Again: Once it’s clean, give it another rinse to wash away all the soap.
Dry Gently: Use clean microfiber towels to dry it off. Skip air drying to avoid water spots.
SPOT CLEANING
Tough Spots? For more stubborn stains, use a mild cleaner or vinyl-safe product. Always test in a small spot first.
Quick Fix Formula: Mix water and isopropyl alcohol (2:1), apply it to a microfiber cloth, and gently clean the area.

Looking after your tints
Keep Those Windows Rolled Up (for Now)
It’s tempting to roll them down right away, but resist! The tint film needs a little time to properly stick to the glass. Give it about 2 to 7 days to cure—otherwise, you risk peeling the edges before it’s fully set which will void your warranty.
Don’t Worry About Foggy Film or Bubbles
If your windows look a bit hazy or you see tiny water bubbles
under the film, don’t worry—it’s totally normal. After tinting, a bit of leftover moisture can get trapped between the film and the glass. The window film is porous so that foggy look or those small water pockets will clear up on their own as the water evaporates.
Drying time depends on the weather, if it’s warm and sunny, it’ll
clear up quicker. But it can take anywhere up to a month.
Wait Before Cleaning
Hold off on cleaning your windows for a few days while the tint
sets. Once it’s ready, a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth or soft
paper towel will usually do the trick.
Got sticky-fingered kids or slobbery pups? Just use a soft cloth
and a gentle, ammonia-free cleaner. A simple mix of water with a
splash of vinegar or a drop of soap works great.
Just remember DO NOT USE anything with ammonia—it will ruin the tint.
Tint Is Tough, But Not Indestructible
Quality window film is scratch-resistant, but not scratch-proof.
That means it’s great for daily wear and tear, but still needs a little care.
Be mindful when loading things like boxes, tools, or sports gear
near your windows. And here’s a sneaky one—watch your seat
belt buckle. It only takes one solid knock to put a tear in the tint,
especially when you’re pulling the belt on or off quickly.
